My work involves creating innovative, culturally responsive mental health and mentorship programs for youth and families through MBKCares. MBKCares has been doing this work since 2010, and we became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2020. I am interested in community-academic partnerships to address youth mental health disparities, suicide prevention, and trauma-informed care, particularly in underserved communities. In terms of past CBPR experience, I’ve collaborated with researchers from the University of Pennsylvania on youth mental health surveys and co-developed programming informed by community input and evidence-based practices. The ideal partner for me and my organization would be committed to equity, open to creative approaches, and passionate about co-creating sustainable solutions. As a partner, you can expect me and MBKCares to bring deep community trust, youth engagement expertise, and a track record of impactful, collaborative work.
