Small business owners often need to present their ideas in a variety of settings, from community meetings to professional opportunities. This session will introduce practical techniques for communicating your business ideas clearly, confidently, and effectively. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussion, ask questions, and explore resources available through BRIC to support small business development. The City of Philadelphia#39;s Mayor#39;s Business Action Team (MBAT) is here to answer your business questions! MBAT is the one-stop shop for Philadelphia business owners and entrepreneurs. We#39;re partnering up to host office hours with Business Services Managers. They are the first point of contact for Philadelphia businesses assisting with navigating through city processes. MBAT helps all businesses from launch to expansion. You can ask us things like: How do I register my business? I have my Employer Identification Number (EIN). Isn't this the same as the City Tax Account number? What is a BIRT and why do I need this? Is the Commercial Activity License the same as the Business Privilege License? What grants are available for new businesses? How do I set up an LLC and get an EIN number? I conducted market research at the BRIC. What is the best way to utilize those resources? Office hours are in person from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the ground floor of the BRIC. There is no pre-registration for this event, and questions are limited to fifteen minutes. Have a question to ask a legal professional about patents, trademarks, copyrights or trade secrets? Entrepreneurs, nonprofit directors, artists and inventors: you can reserve an appointment to attend free consultations with the University of Pennsylvania Law School Intellectual Property Clinic. Student Counselors (together with their supervising attorney) can answer your questions about intellectual property, for example: how to protect inventions and innovations, safeguard a product name, investigate whether you might be infringing someone else#39;s patent, navigate relationships with outside parties over content, use an NDA, and much more! The consultations will be in 45 minute blocks between 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Advanced registration is required as space is very limited and requesting a spot does not guarantee being seen. All attendees must be confirmed and scheduled to a specific timeslot. A computer that can connect to Zoom is required. A Zoom link will be sent to you the day before the event.
