Millan AbiNader
Assistant Professor, University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice
My research seeks to respond to the question: How do macro-level factors affect survivors’ and perpetrators’ of gender-based violence abilities to heal & change? This question came out of my practice experience as a victim advocate working with survivors of gender-based violence (e.g., intimate partner violence, commercial sexual exploitation) in community and carceral settings. I hope to generate research that helps improve system interventions and impacts policies that decrease violence as well as supporting practitioner health and decreasing burnout. I have previously worked with community agencies to assist in participant recruitment, with practitioners in advisory roles, and with agencies on program evaluation. One of my long-term goals is to build sustainable, holistic partnerships with community agencies to implement research agendas that inform policy and practice interventions. I am a mixed methodologist, doing quantitative and qualitative research.
