My work as a Youth Peer navigator involves helping youth navigate their emotional experiences and build healthy coping strategies. One way I do this is through a Therapeutic Songwriting workshop where I teach students how to process their emotions by writing songs, poems, or raps. I am interested in community-academic partnerships to address the issue of low self-esteem and negative coping strategies in youth, and how songwriting can impact them. I enjoyed being in the past Penn Community Scholars class, and am seeking an academic partner who is interested in the intersection of creativity and mental health. As a partner, you can expect me and my organization to bring healthy communication and a passion to pour back into the community.
