I have been involved in building a residency curriculum in order to train family medicine residents to provide full spectrum (including pregnancy) care in low resource settings in order to improve health care disparities, particularly in the realm of maternal child health. There is a huge need for competent clinicians in low resource settings as typically this is where there are the highest rates of health care disparities in marginalized populations. Our curriculum also involves community engagement in FQHCs across the city in order to empower community providers to provide excellent care. I have been passionate about this work since I was a medical student and have been working on this curriculum for over a year.
