This 14-session training is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of community members to serve as equal partners in research. The Program features guest speakers from community-academic partnerships and other topic area experts in health care innovation\, multi-sector collaboration\, and more. In addition to learning the foundations of research\, leaders from community organizations receive tools and resources to craft their “pitch” in a way that is attractive to funders and academic partners. \nJoin us for a morning of connection\, collaboration\, and celebration with some of the best community and academic leaders in Philadelphia.

SUMMARY:The Intersection of Community\, Academia\, and Grantmaking
DESCRIPTION:The culminating symposium of the Penn Community Scholars Program where community leaders pitch their solutions to a panel of academics & funders \nNow in its seventh year\, the Penn Community Scholars Program was developed to foster and promote community-academic partnerships and community-based participatory research. This 12-session training is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of community members to serve as equal partners in research. The Program features guest speakers from community-academic partnerships and other topic area experts in health equity\, health care innovation\, and more. In addition to learning the foundations of research\, leaders from community organizations receive tools and resources to craft their “pitch” in a way that is attractive to funders and academic partners. \nAfter two semesters of preparation\, the graduates of the Penn Community Scholars Program will present their innovative ideas to potential collaborators and funders. The event will include networking opportunities\, a Q&A panel with local and national funders\, and a keynote presentation from Dr. Anita Ravi\, President/CEO/Co-Founder of the PurpLE Health Foundation. \nJoin us for a morning of connection\, collaboration\, and celebration with some of the best community leaders in Philadelphia. SUMMARY:13th Annual Community Driven Research Day
DESCRIPTION:COMMUNITY-DRIVEN RESEARCH DAY encourages collaborations between researchers and community-based organizations (CBOs) and community groups who have research questions that they are interested in answering\, specifically in ways that address social determinants of health. Through an interactive poster session\, CBOs and community groups highlight their questions to CDRD participants\, who include area non-profits\, community groups\, public sector partners\, and researchers from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia\, the University of Pennsylvania\, Temple University\, Drexel University\, Thomas Jefferson University\, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. CBOs\, community groups\, academic researchers\, and students will have ample opportunity to discuss potential mutually-beneficial collaborations. \n2023 Keynote Panel: An esteemed panel of past CDRD awardees and community-driven research experts will present on effective community-academic collaborations.
